Prairie president Mark Maxwell.

Prairie named best Christian workplace

"We’ve also tried really hard to make this a fun and creative place to work.”

Prairie has been named one of the best Christian workplaces to work in 2015.

According to the Best Christian Workplaces Institute, only sixteen Canadian charities and fourteen North American colleges or universities have been recognized in the last five years as a certified Best Chrisitan Workplace.

“Over the past five years, we have worked hard to be transparent, improve team culture and emphasize effectiveness,” Prairie president Mark Maxwell says in a release. “We have included employees in decision-making, improved communication with staff and have been clear about our mission. We’ve also tried really hard to make this a fun and creative place to work.”

Maxwell explains the award is the result of substantial improvement that has been made at Prairie since the last survey was conducted.

“Since coming to Prairie I’ve known how much work has needed to be done,” says Maxwell. “Our staff and faculty are my heroes. We’ve had some difficult challenges to overcome in recent years and I know that our well-qualified staff can find work at other places for more money. They choose to be here because they believe in what we are doing and to impact the lives of our students.”

However, Maxwell believes there is still work to be done.

While we are dependent on God for our daily needs, including finances and student enrolment, we are planning for greater effectiveness,” Maxwell says. “Higher enrolment and even more opportunities for our students.”
