New Canadian Christian media ministry a game-changer

“Ninety per cent of Canadians say they're spiritual but aren’t sure about Jesus,” says Dr. Mike Sherbino, the talk show host of a newly launched Canadian Christian media ministry called Find the Way.

One major vision of Find The Way is to establish a greater Christian influence in the secular media, using platforms like radio, social media, and television as prime ways of communicating Christian values and insights to people on the journey of life.

“Find The Way is church for those who have given up on church, or those wondering where God fits into the journey they’re on,” says Mike. “It’s the show for people looking for a faith perspective on matters pertaining to life, politics, the news and other topics that address the contemporary issues of our day.”

Surprisingly, Mike has received a warm welcome from people in the secular media camp, including Vancouver’s largest radio news and talk show, CISL 650 AM.

The station’s manager reportedly told Mike: “We need to hear your perspective on life. I envision the guy in the BMW finding out what life is all about. We’d like to hear a Christian perspective on life and how to do life.”

Moving across Canada

Find The Way with Dr. Mike Sherbino airs on six other radio stations across Canada, ranging from Vancouver to Winnipeg.

Mike brings over 30 years of experience as a pastor, including pastoring churches in four provinces during those years.

After completing a Master’s degree at Tyndale University College & Seminary in Toronto, Mike earned a Doctor of Ministry at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston.

Both in and beyond the Church, Mike is an effective communicator, having hosted a live call-in TV show with 100 Huntley Street and most recently, radio programs for CKNW in Vancouver, where his program, Journey On, enjoyed a wide-ranging and substantial audience.

Working with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, International Needs, Serving in Mission (SIM), and preaching in countries around the world, has equipped Mike with a global perspective on faith, injustice and poverty.

Connecting with the unchurched in a relevant way

With the launch of Find The Way, Mike has now turned his attention to secular culture in Canada. “Close to my heart was to use all elements of social media to connect with unchurched people to present the Gospel in a winsome and culturally relevant way.”

One way he’s done this is to produce a one-minute video, appropriately called “Mike’s Minute,” to engage with people through social media about how Jesus can bring encouragement and hope into their lives. “We [Christians] claim to have the answers, so how come we’re not walking in the truth of those answers?” Mike asks.

Not only does he hope and pray Find the Way will engage people in secular culture with the teachings of Jesus, but that it would also serve to equip Christians to live and bring them back to the basics of the Christian faith.

“The local church is the hope of the world,” Mike says. His hope is that God’s people are going to be empowered to take bold steps in engaging people today. “My prayer is that together we would be bold and courageous for Jesus.”
