Most Evangelicals Say Worship Alone Is ‘Valid Replacement’ for Church

For the first time, a majority of U.S. Evangelicals say they believe worshipping alone or with their family is a valid replacement for church.

The statistic comes from the "State of American Theology," a large survey conducted every two years by Lifeway Research, which also takes the nation's temperature on a wide range of issues concerning Christianity and theology. Some other alarming trends from the 2022 survey include about half of Evangelicals saying they believe Jesus was a good teacher but was not God, and 60% saying that faith is a matter of personal opinion rather than objective truth.
