Church of the Holy Sepulchre’s ancient altar rediscovered, researchers say

Recent renovations at the traditional site of Jesus' burial have uncovered something historic on a forgotten slab of stone.

Stored in a hallway at the back of the church, the stone was thought to be significant only for the centuries of graffiti on its outward face. However, when renovations saw the stone moved and the other side revealed, archaeologists found evidence that it was likely the decorative facade of the main altar in the church from nearly a thousand years ago.
