We are seeking a full-time JUSTICE & MERCY COORDINATOR. [Salaried role averaging 40 hrs a week]

Start date to be negotiated (Sooner the better but no later than Sept 1st 2022). The first year of the role is given primarily over to supporting a discernment process at which point the job description will be revisited with the incumbent to reflect the work required to fulfill the resulting plan.


  •   An active and vibrant faith in Jesus and commitment to the communal life of the church.
  •   Demonstrated enthusiasm and compassion for people and community.
  •   A proven leader in matters of mercy and justice.
  •   Ability to root their passions and goals within a rich biblical framework that is conversant with and sensitive to anti-racism, poverty reduction, and inclusion.
  •   Relevant academic training, and 3-5 yrs experience in community development or church leadership in a volunteer or paid capacity.
  •   Experience discerning gifts, equipping, and encouraging volunteer leaders.
  •   A proven team player as well as an independent and strategic thinker.
  •   Displays ability to negotiate a broad range of theological and political perspectives while

    being comfortable with ambiguity.

  •   Skilled in time management, organizing projects, and administration alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  •   Flexible, including being able to work evenings and weekends


    In the first year this role would be responsible to perform a range of duties including but not limited to:

    Church Engagement Process (60%)

    Working alongside the Gospel Justice Working group and the coaching expertise of Yonge Street Mission:

  •   Discern and determine the gifts and resources within the church that may be available to build upon neighbourhood assets and help address felt needs.
  •   Develop awareness and connect with existing community services in order to determine ideal engagement and avoid duplication.
  •   Develop a Plan, rooted in prayer, and based on gathered research, neighbourhood asset mapping, and church gifts and resources, for engaging within our community in a meaningful and Kingdom-oriented way.
  •   Begin to set in place an evaluation system for measuring results to enable continuous improvement and greater impact over time.
  •   Be seen as a Christian presence in the community working toward the Kingdom of God, building a heathier and more resilient neighbourhood.

    Supporting Existing Justice Work (25%)

    •   Oversight and support for the Refugee Committee and Star Boxes.
    •   Work with the Community Connections Pastor to rebuild and reanimate the work of clusters (Groups of 30-50

      deepening in relationship and stepping out in practical acts of love for the communities around them)

    •   Educate, equip, and empower our church community to live lives

      characterized by the values and practices of the Kingdom of God in practical and concrete ways as it pertains to mercy and justice.

      Participation in the overall ministry life of the Church (15%)

 Regular engagement with the weekly staff meetings, and worshipping life of Little Trinity giving input with an eye and heart for justice.
