Digital subscriptions now available

A number of ChristianWeek subscribers have been asking when they’ll be able to subscribe to a digital edition of this newspaper. The answer is: Now. Here’s how. Visit our web site (www.christianweek.org), click on the “Online Subscription” button and follow the instructions.

While most readers still want to receive a paper edition in their mailbox or pick up a copy at their church, a growing minority is content to read and/or print from a PDF version. The primary advantages of digital editions are that they arrive earlier and cost less.

Generating generosity

When ChristianWeek administrative assistant Jolene Bateman saw the letter from a local street mission explaining that the boiler for the heating system didn’t work and needed to be replaced, she felt obliged to do something. Not that she had a lot of money to throw at the $250,000 project.

But according to the letter, if everyone who saw it gave $20, the cost of the boiler could be completely covered. “I’m the only one in the office who’s seeing this letter,” thought Jolene. So she decided to spread it around and challenged her work colleagues to contribute something.

It’s easy for us to become jaded to appeals for money, but Jolene’s personal invitation generated further acts of generosity.

The money multiplied and Jolene delivered $450 to Siloam Mission director John Mohan, who knows that simple appeals sometimes lead to great growth.
