MAYERTHORPE, ABThe pastors and congregations of various churches in this area are playing an important role in assisting the stunned residents of this community following the March 3 murders of four RCMP officers near the tiny hamlet of Rochfort Bridge, 150 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
Four young officers were gunned down by James Roszko, a local oilfield worker with a history of animosity toward police who then turned the gun on himself. The police were visiting Roszko’s acreage to investigate reports of stolen vehicles and a marijuana grow operation on the property. read the full story>

Theologian, author and friend remembered
VANCOUVER, BCStanley J. Grenz was called suddenly home on March 12 after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage, leaving family and friends mourning his loss. Survived by his wife, Edna, who is minister of worship at First Baptist Church in Vancouver, their two married children Joel and Corina and their spouses, and his granddaughter Anika, Stan was a man truly devoted to his family, and one who delighted in their many achievements. read more>

Orthodox Anglicans dismiss Ingham’s “ineffective” threat

NORTH VANCOUVER, BCOrthodox Anglican rector Ed Hird is not losing any sleep over New Westminster bishop Michael Ingham’s latest ultimatum that his congregation vacate their building by April 1.
“We’ve been at this for seven years, so we’ve had all kinds of nasty letters from Michael Ingham and [diocesan Chancellor] George Cadman,” he says. “So this is just one in a series of really dozens of attempts to huff and puff.”

Baptist leader Shirley Bentall passes away
