WATERLOO,
ONMore than 1,600 people gathered in early May
from across Canada and the United States, as far away as
Texas, to celebrate 25 years of Gods faithfulness
in the ministry of Women Alive. The theme for the
three-day event was "Celebrating the Past ...
Anticipating the Future." The convention is held
each spring at the University of Waterloo.
Women Alive
was founded in 1973 by Nell Maxwell, who felt Gods
call on her life to begin an organization to reach women
in Canada. The interdenominational ministry has grown
nationally and in February the first conference ever was
held in the United States, in Lockport, New York.
The keynote
speakers to mark the special anniversary were Helen
Roseveare and Anne Graham Lotz.
