brings Bible to Yali
A
new Bible translation nears completion

MISSISSAUGA, ONFinal
editing on the Southern Yali translation of the Bible is
happening at the Toronto-area offices of the World Team
mission agency.
Otto Kobak, a national from Irian Jaya,
is spending several weeks with World Team Canada director
John Wilson and Daud Soesilo of the Indonesian and United
Bible Societies working at a translation they say will
become the first complete Bible in any of Irian
Jayas 250 languages. Other abridged Bibles have
appeared and numerous New Testaments.
Translators are aiming to publish the
Bible in 1999, and working to raise the $30,000 (US)
required.
