Fellowship Baptists
affirm men in ministry
Women
may not serve officially as pastors

TORONTOMessengers
to the 44th Annual Convention of the Fellowship of
Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada, meeting in
Toronto November 3-6, voted overwhelmingly to maintain
the Fellowships historic position that only men
occupy the office of pastor.
Following more than
a year of study and consultation at the local, regional
and national levels, the churchs national council
brought a position statement to the floor for discussion
and a vote. The pivotal statement in the one-page
document is a "practical implication" which
restricts pastor/elder/overseer positions to
"qualified men."
