Fellowship Baptists affirm men in ministry

Women may not serve officially as pastors

By David S. Daniels • Special to ChristianWeek

TORONTO–Messengers to the 44th Annual Convention of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada, meeting in Toronto November 3-6, voted overwhelmingly to maintain the Fellowship’s historic position that only men occupy the office of pastor.

The pivotal statement in the one-page document is a "practical implication" which restricts pastor/elder/overseer positions to "qualified men."
