Former Sikh founds resource centre

Evangelist looks for ways to bridge cultures

By Tony Gosgnach - Special to ChristianWeek

STONEY CREEK, ON--The reality of a rapidly diversifying Canadian society has prompted a Southern Ontario pastor to found a resource centre specializing in the evangelization of Sikh and Hindu peoples.

Raj Sandhu, who was raised as a Sikh before becoming a Christian, started The Resource Centre for South Asians at Paramount Drive Alliance Church in the Hamilton suburb of Stoney Creek when he became a minister at the church in April.

Sandhu found that although Sikhs and Hindus have become two of Canada’s largest cultural communities, there was little access to resources regarding them.

"Over the last several years, I contacted several organizations, institutions and denominations to find out what they had for reaching out to these communities," he says.
