![]() ChristianWeek earns journalistic accoladesWINNIPEG, MB--A feature story on foster children in Canada by Josiah Neufeld, The children nobody wants (May 23, 2008), earned first place award at the Evangelical Press Association's annual convention in Indianapolis, Indiana in May. "The author has taken an international challenge and brought it home to Canadian Christians," noted Holly G. Miller, who judged the long article category. "This is flat-out good journalism." ChristianWeek also took home three awards from the Canadian Church Press Convention in Winnipeg. ChristianWeek Manitoba was awarded first place for general excellence among regional newspapers for its "interesting and imaginative range of local stories." An editorial by Doug Koop, When markets go awry (Novemeber 1, 2008), earned third place for a newspaper editorial. "A refreshing perspective that is tragically missing from most mainstream media financial news columns. A courageous and needed perspective," judges said. Canada Today, by columnists Joe Couto and Janet Epp Buckingham, garnered third place for their columns that judges described as "topical, informed, thought provoking."
