We are happy to welcome Harold Jantz back into a more active role with ChristianWeek, the newspaper he founded nearly 18 years ago. For the next six months he will be helping out on a part time basis with editorial writing and general editing while editorial director Doug Koop is away on professional development leave.

“I am certain that Harold’s presence in our pages will strengthen readers’ confidence in the quality and continuity of ChristianWeek during my absence,” says Doug. “And I know he will be a tremendously encouraging mentor to the people who now have the chance to work with and learn from him—a privilege that was mine for a decade.”

Officially, we’re referring to Harold as the interim editor and asking him to come alongside managing editor Kelly Rempel to ensure that ChristianWeek continues to provide our readers with vigorous religious journalism committed to historic Christianity.

Harold has always been a very hard worker. Getting ChristianWeek up and running was not an easy task, and his habits have not changed since he left back in 1996 to devote more time to some of his other interests. He has been very active, serving on numerous boards and providing consulting and editorial services for a variety of church-related projects. He is chair of the local New Direction for Life Ministries board and was a driving force expanding and relocating the House of Hesed, a home for persons with HIV/AIDS.

Throughout the years Harold has continued to be a strong proponent of the role ChristianWeek and the regional ChristianCurrent publications can play in the life of God’s people in Canada.

The task of providing Christians with the kind of information and inspiration we need to live as salt and light in our society is indeed a great calling. As always, this publication aims to provide a practical blend of news that matters to Christian leaders today with enough perspective to discern wisdom for the days ahead.

We are constantly on the lookout to find ways for ChristianWeek to shed even more light, and we value your input as we continue our efforts to develop a stronger national voice in an ever-darkening world.
