Focus on the victories, past and present

As I reflect on the year just past, I think of amazing blessings, a lot of hard work and many significant accomplishments. Not just for this paper or our organization, but for the greater community of Christ.

Sure, we can much more quickly rhyme off the negative episodes of the past year—the battle we face against the growing secularization of our society grows ever more fierce—but I believe we’d do better to focus on the victories won in the name of Christ each and every day.

We have, I believe, seen amazing progress throughout 2002 in the building of an infrastructure that God willing, will enable media ministries to work together in tighter cooperation—a bridge, if you may, linking various groups together.

As I reflect on the year ahead, it’s easy to get excited about the possibilities. I see 2003 as a year in which we, as Christian media, begin to model the unity we talk so much about. Exciting plans for various media organizations to work together are underway. If we, as Christian media, can successfully model commonality of purpose, perhaps that can be extended to other ministries and organizations as well. Pray for us as we begin to cross this bridge now being built.

You can look forward to your favourite publication continuing to sharpen its focus on the essentials for Christian leadership in Canada. We can’t promise you’ll always like what you read, but we promise we’ll never stop challenging you.

A special thank you to all of ChristianWeek’s faithful readers, advertisers and staff members over the past year. Together, let’s go forward into 2003 dedicated to informing, encouraging and educating fellow believers to the work of Christ in our world.
